The best way to start a Sunday

This Morning I came out to the Living Room and saw my hubby reading his scriptures. I sat down next to him and he looks at me, kisses me, and says:

Hubby:"Good Morning Sexy Wife!"

Me:"Sexy? I just woke up.."

Hubby:"Yeah, but you are smiling! And that's what makes you sexy!"

And that my friends is the best way to start a Sunday... :)

Lovely Advice

I saw this gem on Pinterest... and I thought it needed to be shared with the blogging world as well my Pinteresting Minions... xP

Drink plenty of water.

Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.

Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less foods that are manufactured in plants.

Live with the 3 E’s - Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy.

Play more games.

Read more books than you did in 2010.

Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.

Sleep for 7 hours.

Take a 10-30 minutes walk daily. And while you walk, smile.

Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

Don’t have negative thoughts or things you cannot control.

Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.

Don’t over do.

Keep your limits.

Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

Don’t waste your precious energy on gossip.

Dream more while you are awake.

Envy is a waste of time.

You already have all you need.

Forget issues of the past.

Don’t remind your partner with his/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness.

Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

Don’t hate others.

Make peace with your past so it won’t spoil the present.

No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that
appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.

Smile and laugh more.

You don’t have to win every argument.

Agree to disagree.

Call your family often.

Each day give something good to others.

Forgive everyone for everything.

Spend time with people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6.

Try to make at least three people smile each day.

What other people think of you is none of your business.

Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will.

Stay in touch.

Do the right thing!

Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.

However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

Your Inner most is always happy. So, be happy.

The best is yet to come.  :D

love you all!!

No More Wisdom

This last week has been full of pain, and crying and praying and blessings and frantically calling doctor friends to help diagnose me over the phone, and filling prescriptions and trying to remember to take said prescriptions... I got a kidney/bladder infection and was in so much pain, it was just ridiculous!! But i just barely started feeling better a few days ago...

And then today i decided to willingly go and get 4 teeth yanked out of my face!!!

And since i'm super brave, i decided that i wouldn't use anesthesia, and just use Novocain to numb my mouth and let the dentist just yank away!

First of all, if you've ever had Novocain you know how it makes you feel like your whole face is swollen and you can't swallow. It's super freaky, and no matter how many times I've been numbed I still freak out at the sensation of losing all feeling in my face.

Second of all, WHY OH WHY DO DENTIST INSIST ON TALKING TO YOU WHILE THEY ARE PERFORMING SURGERY!!! It's pretty annoying when they ask you questions just at a regular cleaning, but at least you are bleeding, numb, have a mouth full of cotton AND have a tongue guard in... I just don't understand...

Dentist: "So where does your Husband work?"
Me:"ezurt oools"
D:"OH! Desert Schools!! I bank there, it's great!"

D:"So what are you listening to on your iPod?"
Me:"azkuhl adds"
D:" I Love Rascal Flatts! My granddaughter loves the song that they sing in Cars..."

And the ridiculous conversations went on and on.

It was just silly.

But lets see. On the extreme upside, my mom took great care of me for the remainder of the day! She made the yummiest Jell-o i think i have ever had! She made me mashed potatoes and i had an endless supply of dr. pepper at my side. We watched chick flicks all day and she always made sure that my ice packs on my cheeks were frozen :)

My sweet mother in law also brought over a whole box of goodies to help me get through the next few days! She even brought me Dr. Pepper Popsicles! If that's not the best thing i've ever seen i don't know what is!!

Also, i'm not swollen at ALL!!! NO chipmunk cheeks for me!! Woot woot. I'm talking totally normally, i'm eating without pain, i slept through the night and i get to go to one of my dearest friends' wedding receptions tonight!

I'm so grateful that everything went well! And i'm so grateful for modern pain meds to help ease the little pain that i do have!!

I'm grateful to have a loving husband who takes care of me, day in and day out!

I'm grateful that I get to go back to work on monday - paying for surgery, and missing work don't really go hand in hand. So it'll be great to get back to work and make up the money that we spent to get the teeth yanked out of my head.

But, for today i will enjoy eating pudding and mashed potatoes, watching 'girly shows' as Alex likes to call them, and cuddling with my kitten! :)

ps. i'm sorry if parts of this post don't make sense... Vicodin makes me a little loopy... ;)

30 Day Challenge Update: Part 1

So i'm a few days into the 30 day challenge and i wanted to post about what i've done so far!!

Today, i'm doing #17- Go one day without make up...

this one isn't very easy for me... i don't think i'm that naturally pretty... but give a few minutes with some make up and i have the confidence of a queen... it's terrible, i know. but if it works, don't fight it... But i think we all need to embrace the natural beauty we all posses every once in a while. So today all i'm sporting is come moisturizer, some chap stick and a smile!!

tah dah!!!

Next... i did #8 - go outside and take pictures of nature

This one was easy since we went to mexico last weekend, it was so easy to be picture happy!!

also, i did #2 - paint my nails!

again, an easy one since i do this all the time, but i stretched my limits lately and did some designs that are a little more demanding :) I loved how they all turned out!!

I'm loving this daily challenge and i can't wait for this weekend cuz i have some fun ones planned!! <3

stay tuned!

Can you Spare me some change?

change is good. except for when it's not.

I'm all about change in the weather, a change of hair color, or maybe even a change in the drink your get from circle k... those changes are fine.

But your best friend deciding that she is too good for Arizona, and that she is gonna be awesome and go work at Disneyland for the next semester.... that's the kind of change that i'd rather avoid altogether.

Now, don't get me wrong, i'm so so so SOOO jealous happy for her!! And the fact that i will get to go visit her at the end of the year {almost} makes it okay that she is leaving.

But I honestly don't know what i will do without her. I feel like i'm losing my right arm. I won't have anyone to chat with on gmail chat until the wee morning hours, or someone to go shopping with on a whim, or someone to sit for hours and hours crafting with me. I won't have someone to listen to play the piano and the harp. I won't have a singing buddy in Resonance. I won't have another girl to sit and look up attractive men on google with. I won't have someone to help me draw awesome things in my empty scrapbook pages. I won't have someone to give me good advice when i'm feeling hurt, or defeated. I won't have someone to laugh at me when i say "chonchy chonch". I won't have someone to share all my inside jokes with{she's so skinny... i hate her /CAKE}. I won't have someone to always eat my chips and salsa. I won't have my best friend.... /sigh

side note: luckily i DO have a fantabulous hubby that will ALWAYS be there for me, and who is ultimately my best friend... but a girls gotta have girlfriends... ya know?

anywho. Hope is someone who kinda came into my life haphazardly. We really don't remember how we became so close. One day we were kinda acquaintances, and the next we were swapping life stories, having sleep overs and gossiping about the latest boyfriend drama. And it's been the best thing EVER.

Hope is amazing. and hilarious. Go read her blog. I'm serious. GO! please?
you can thank me later... or now... whichever is easier.

And now, a montage of pictures of Hope and I :D

Hope and I on the beaches of Mexico

Hope and I on Halloween

One of our many Jones Soda runs

Hope and I on my wedding day!!!

so pretty

i just love us.
So there you have it folks. My fabulous best friend is all grown up and saving China... ermm. i mean California...

She's gonna be awesome. She is gonna learn to be way more independent, she will find herself, assess her true feelings for a certain someone, she will realize how talented and special she is, she will have her faith tried and tested, she will become fiscally responsible, she will learn better time management, she will become addicted to Prison Break. ;)

I will miss you Hopey. But I know that you need this, and they happy times are ahead.

30 Day Challenge

My darling friend (can i call her my friend if we've never met in real life, only read each others blogs??)
Alexis came up with this super fun and self loving idea called the "30 day Challenge". To see her blog and her ideas for her 30 days go here :) She's fabulous, i promise you'll love her!!

I thought that it was such a great idea to spend at least a little bit of time every day to do something just for ME! So often i get caught up in being selfless, doing things for the people i work with, making sure my husband is as happy as can be, and even making sure Willie, our kitten is always purring. More often than not, this leaves me feeling pretty exhausted and more than a little frustrated that i've had no 'me time'... So thank you Alexis for forcing me to think of myself once in a while :)

So without further ado, i give you my 30 day challenge.

1. Read a chapter of the book i'm reading (the Help) {SOOO GOOD BTW}

2. paint my nails

3. go on a walk

4. Listen to classical music

5. sing in the shower

6. write a letter to my best friend who lives in utah

7. try and bake bread (this will be a fail, i can assure you)

8. go outside and take photos (photography is my passion, but i'm hardly motivated to take pictures when there isn't an actual assignment that's due)

9. have a fondue dinner

10. go to the library

11. go to the temple by myself

12. Donate something to GoodWill

13. go camping and lay under the stars

14. play in one of those water splash pads they have at Tempe Market Place

15. watch a movie i've never seen before.

16. Sew... my sweet mother in law gave me a JoAnns gift card and i still haven't figured out what i want to use it for!!

17. go one day without make up... embrace my natural beauty.

18. order take out and eat it out of the cartons with chopsticks...just like they do in the movies.

19.  play sports with my hubby

20. skype with my best friend who will be living in California for the next 5 months

21. play video games with my hubby

22. have a spa night = pedicures, facials, massages, bubbles baths!!

23. Compliment a complete stranger

24. wash my car. even vacuum the inside!!

25. clean out my junk drawer

26. go to dinner at a restaurant i've never eaten in.

27. have a candle lit dinner but eat something simple, like cereal or pb&j sandwiches.

28. make a craft... i have so many good ideas, and so little motivation...

29. make lunch for Alex before he leaves for work and write a love note and hide it inside.

30. Look through the old notes that Alex and I exchanged while we dating:)

Now i know that some of these things are completely selfish... but i do love doing things for other people... and that makes me feel good inside, and i think that's the main purpose for this Challenge.

I love this idea and i'm excite to let you guys know how all these things go! I'll try and take pictures to document each day, but i make no promises. Haha...

Let me know what your challenges would be! :)

The Sweetest

Saturday was a great day.

Alex came home on friday and said that he helped a worker from Sweet Cakes. Alex told him that he LOVED Sweet Cakes, the guy pulled out a free sandwich punch card that was all punched out!

So saturday for lunch we decided to go and split a sandwich. And we were so happy that we did.

Here is a breakdown of what we got!!
We got the BLT with Avocado on the Honey Wheat bread!! It was AH-MAZE-ING!!!
The bread was great, homemade and toasty, it was the perfect crunch and taste along with the avocado and bacon (who doesn't love that combo??)

We just got the one sandwich and had it split, so we eat got half he sandwich, a cookie and a pickle. :)

Okay, now these are the best cookies i think i've ever eaten. I've been eating Sweet Cakes cookies for a few years now, but i just never get use to how delicious these things are. First off, they are HUGE!!! and only a $1.50 each! (ps. on saturday it's buy 2 get 1 free)

left: Snickerdoodle-so good. so moist and sweet. It's the perfect texture and it's the one that i would get every time.
Middle: Peanut butter and m&m's- this one was okay. not my favorite, but again not bad, every thing Sweet Cakes does is lovely.
Right:Oatmeal Butterscotch- soooo basically, this is the most amazing cookie that i have ever eaten. The texture of the oatmeal is amazing, and it has just the perfect amount of butterscotch flavor. I was in heaven the moment i tried it. It instantly became #1 on my list!!! I WILL be going back regularly for this delicious cookie.
 So satisfied!

It was awesome, a delectable sandwich, 3 cookies (well 5 if you count the cookies in our meal) 2 pickles haha, and a large drink = less that $6... not too shabby. And we were both stuffed afterwards!

It was the perfect way to spend a hot saturday afternoon!

Life Is A Highway

Yesterday, Alex and I decided to do something really fun -- We headed to Tucson to spend some well deserved time with Alex's family!

It was so great! I loved spending time with the fam, sitting in the family room just talking. Laughing at each other, teasing that never ends, little ones climbing on your lap to play Angry Birds with you. Not to mention the sinfully delicious food... Those Perrines really know how to have a good time.

But aside from the lovely time we had in Tucson, my favorite part had to have been the drive. I don't think i enjoy anything more than road trips with my hubby.

I like that we both get Circle K drinks.

I like looking over and seeing this guy ;)

I like holding hands in the car :)

I like it when it rains when the sky's are still blue

I like listening to music on my orange ipod, and car-eoke and car dancing.

I like seeing the open road before us, never ending.

Reading this AWESOME book out loud to Alex, SO MUCH SUSPENSE!!!

I love getting snacks at the gas station and munching all day long.

It was such a great little trip. Nothing too extravagant, but so fun! Made me realize how so lucky I am to live where I do, and to have the family that i have. :)

We have another fun trip planned in two weeks. We are going to <drumroll please> ROCKY POINT!!! woohoo! Alex got work off just so we could surprise me with this fun little get away! And <fingers crossed> hopefully our dear dear friends Mark and Hope (read their story here) can come with us. Either way, i'm so stoked to go to the beach and eat tacos and more ROAD TRIPS!! :)

i love my hubby.
